CrowdInk had a chance to sit down with the minds behind Dragonfly Flowers, a Melbourne-based online floristry and indoor plants business that is blossoming on to the scene. They tell-all about art, sourcing locally, and what makes them different.

CrowdInk: What was the inspiration behind Dragonfly Flowers?

Dragonfly Flowers: There are two parts to Dragonfly Flowers. We specialise in both Floristry and Indoor plants. Bringing these two things to people is the real driving force behind Dragonfly Flowers. With our floristry, we have the know-how and experience to work with small budgets through to extravagant ones.

We believe flowers can be for anyone and they don’t have to hurt your pocket. We enjoy seeing people leave feeling comfortable with the value of their spend, a smile across their face, and of course something beautiful in their hand. When it comes to plants we give genuine advice on which plant is right for the space you want to fill.

We will consider the style and type of your environment, what natural lighting you have, your budget, and how much time you have to give to these plants. To bring someone a bit closer to nature and having them come back pleased with themselves, ready for number two, is part of the inspiration behind Dragonfly.

CI: What makes Dragonfly Flowers so unique compared to other online florists?

DF: We attend every flower market, sourcing the most stunning and funky flowers from both local and international growers. Floristry has fundamental design rules: shape and form, harmony, balance, scale and proportion, movement, dominance, texture and contrast, repetition and rhythm.

All of our floral designers have flair and experience – they live and breathe their floristry art, so much so that we can play with all the rules and give ourselves permission to achieve absolute uniqueness. You can catch us working with everything from a full coral Peony to an abstract branch covered in moss.

CI: What is your favourite floral arrangement?

DF: I don’t have a specific arrangement I like to do, but the most enjoyable ones are made when working closely with the customer. Go on our website and click Florists choice; we have a section where you can give us more of an idea about colours and the occasion. Together we just make the best arrangements!

CI: What is your number 1 tip for anyone looking to start their own online business?

DF: Work with locals. I am forever blown away with what and who we have in Melbourne. There are wonderful Photographers, Graphic Designers, Writers, SEO Geniuses, artists, and I mean that all the way from universities through to more established companies.

CI: How can people connect with Dragonfly Flowers?
