September is Movie Month for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, so get your friends and family together for a VIP lounge room experience. The Starlight Children’s Foundation organises activities and events for seriously ill kids that that are losing their childhood to needles, tests and hospital visits. It’s a very worthy cause that could lead to some fantastic fun; for you and the Starlight children. To help you get started, here are the five must-haves for a VIP movie night:

  1. A Movie Theme. Do you love the colourless classics? Eighties blockbusters? Trashy Rom-coms? If you’re struggling to come up with ideas, get inspired by the great range of specially marked DVDs at JB Hi Fi, Sanity and Woolworths that support the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
  2. A Self-Serve Smorgasbord. Set up a table, within easy reach of your VIP lounge, and fill it with sweet and savoury treats. Take your popcorn to the next level by supplying different flavoured shakers and personalised buckets. If you’re not comfortable cooking up your own themed creations, get some store-bought snacks and tie them into your theme by giving each plate a pun-ny label. A jug or two of your favourite mocktails will complete your first-class feast.
  3. Playful Props. This is where your theme will shine through. Get everyone involved in the movie magic with a photo station filled with props, coats and wigs that will make for some memorable selfies. For that exclusive VIP feel, roll out the red carpet and put a velvet rope across the lounge room door way.
  4. Keep It Cosy. For true VIP comfort, have lots of blankets and cushions to keep your guests snug and relaxed. A scarf over your lamp will give the room a warm ambience and let everyone keep tabs on the smorgasbord.
  5. A Donation Tin. Last, but certainly not least, put a money box somewhere that people can discreetly make their donations throughout the night. Let them know that anything they can donate will help very sick children take a break from the hospital and enjoy being kids.
