A blend of Marina and the Diamonds, Regina Spektor and Florence and the Machine, Montaigne is the newest pop-sensation to add to your playlist. And she’s only 21!

The Australian artist first broke out into the music scene back in 2011, when she was discovered on Triple J Unearthed when she was in year ten. Since then she has kept a relatively low profile up until last year when she released her debut album Glorious Heights.

And it is heaven to our ears.

Montaigne is one of those artists you can get stuck listening to and it genuinely makes your day better. Her album is a must-listen- to during a dreary Monday morning or a boring train ride and it will instantly improve it.

All of her songs are pop-bliss with an incredible range, both vocally and emotionally.

Her album is an emotional rollercoaster with drastic highs and lows. All of which are delivered in her trademark vocal pitch shifts and beautiful telling lyrics.

For these reasons she has gained critical acclaim, being awarded best breakthrough artist at the ARIAS.

And she also seems like a genuinely cool person, campaigning for “people over profit” in the music scene as well as against the closing of Sydney’s nightlife. "It's kinda of slowly killing our music scene, which is not good. Humans need music and art and culture to thrive, to have the will to stay alive." She said.

With such a strong reception for her debut album in 2016, Montaigne’s success is set to sky rocket.

You can catch Montaigne at Melbourne Zoo Twilight sessions and she is also doing the Groovin the Moo circuit. You can see the dates on her website:
