Elton John Contracts Mystery Illness

British singer Sir Elton John has had to cancel his April and May concerts at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace after contracting a “rare and potentially deadly” bacterial infection after performing on the South American leg of his Wonderful Crazy Night tour.

John, who performed in concert in Santiago, Chile, became violently ill during his flight back to England, according to a statement his team released on Monday.

While his illness has not been made public as of yet, his team also said in their statement, that John is now resting at home after spending two nights in the ICU and is expected to make a full recovery.

“During his return flight home from Santiago, Chile, he became violently ill”, their statement said, “Upon returning to the UK, Elton’s Doctors admitted him to hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection”.

Caesars Palace also released a statement regarding John’s illness and the cancellation of his concerts in their casino, saying, “We regret to inform you that due to medical reasons, Elton John is forced to cancel his entire performance schedule for the upcoming April/May run of “The Million Dollar Piano” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace,

“During a recent, successful tour of South America, Elton contracted a harmful and unusual bacterial infection”.

Upon hearing the news of his illness, fans took to Twitter to express the love of the singer and wishing him well, with some fans saying,

After some recovery, John posted a message on his Instagram page, thanking fans for their well wishes, saying, “Woke up this morning to an avalanche of kindness and well wishes. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude”.

He is expected to return to the stage on June 3 in Twickenham, England to continue his tour.
